Helping to fight breast cancer

Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the most common life-threatening cancer facing Australian women, with one in eight destined to be diagnosed in their lifetime.

To change the future of those affected and improve the quality of their lives, David Jones has been partnering with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), Australia’s only 100% community funded organisation supporting breast cancer research since 1994, working towards a goal of zero deaths by 2020.

Over 20 years of partnership has given birth to many fundraising and awareness campaigns supported by David Jones employees and customers which have resulted in more than $4.5M contributed towards NBCF’s research so far.

Whilst taking care of your health is important all year round, in October, during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to remind all women about the importance of monthly self-checks, and for those over 40 years of age, bi-annual mammogram screenings.

To assist with the latter, David Jones operates Rose Clinics in our CBD stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, which provide a unique in-store breast screening service to over 35,000 women annually. Whilst this may seem like a high volume of visitors, we are determined to encourage even more women to visit our Rose Clinics across the country, as early detection provides the best chance of surviving breast cancer.

Use Breast Cancer Awareness Month to make an appointment and encourage other women in your life – your mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and friends, to do the same. No doctor’s referrals are required and this 20 minutes appointment could save your life.

To book your appointment at the David Jones Rose Clinic call 13 20 50.
