You will develop in your role, as a Buyer’s assistant, by attending a series of technical training workshops tailored to support your role. These sessions are primarily focused on the David Jones merchandise systems you will be using each day and are facilitated by our in-house experts.
Merchandise Trainee Buyer and Planner Program
Imagine becoming part of a team that decides what merchandise will be offered in our stores and across all channels. The David Jones Merchandise Traineeship Program is a development path for aspiring Buyers and Planners. The program provides a combination of on and off the job activities and structured training to ensure those selected are ready for their next step.
The 18-month program is facilitated by key David Jones executives so that you learn from those who truly understand the Merchandise business. In addition to this your line manager will support you in transferring your learning to the workplace.
On successful completion of the program each candidate receives a certificate in recognition of their achievement and may have the opportunity, upon assessment, to be placed as a Buyer or Planner at David Jones.
