Australian rapper and songwriter Tuka has had a sharp descent to the top of the Australian music scene. One-third of the hip-hop group Thundamentals but also a solo artist releasing his debut album Will Rap for Tuka in 2009, Tuka’s lyrical abilities and melodies have been recognised and celebrated many times over, including a nomination for this year’s ARIA Award for Best Urban Album for his new album, Life Death Time Eternal (his second ARIA nomination).
Style-wise, Tuka has moved on from his “skater kid” days growing up in Katoomba in Sydney’s Blue Mountains region. “I used to wear Kepper pants,” he admits. Nowadays, he describes the way he dresses as “nonchalant” but also appreciates beautiful patterns. “I really like the elegant aesthetic of sacred geometry,” he says.
