It’s spring!

Time to come out of hibernation into a world filled with colour.

Let’s talk about the many virtues of the colour pink. It is the colour of love, openness and intuition. It points to the power of feminine energy and represents good health. Elsa Schiaparelli, the yin to Coco Chanel’s yang, chose her signature pink because it was “bright, impossible, impudent, becoming, life-giving, like all the light and the birds and the fish in the world put together ... a shocking colour, pure and undiluted.”

This season’s pink sits somewhere between Gwyneth’s 1999 Oscar gown and Marilyn’s strapless number in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: one part fairy floss and one part dragon fruit combined for a result that says, “Man,

I feel like a woman!” but that also says, “R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me.” Give a nod to the flirty prom night costumes of ’80s rom-coms with a playful sweetheart neckline.

Got the blues? Update your wardrobe palette this season and swim towards summer wearing cool shades of aquamarine and sapphire. Anyone who has ever stared up at the bright blue sky or across the water at an Australian beach on a clear day will understand the calming and restorative effect the colour blue can have. And anyone who has witnessed the chaos that is 2017 thus far will understand the need for calm. So wear a blue dress this spring!

Stick to fluid, floaty fabrics like silk and crêpe de chine and you’ll be saying “How’s the serenity?” in no time. Keep any too-voluminous silhouettes in check with an unfussy, freshly brushed head of hair and a self-tie cinched at your waistline. Remember – you wear the clothes, they don’t wear you.
