Far from a beauty contest, Pageant, an independent label based in Melbourne, took the crown at the prestigious Tiffany & Co. National Designer Awards held on 16 March 2015.
The design duo behind Pageant, Amanda Cumming and Kate Reynolds, won a business development and mentoring prize pack valued at $100,000, which included a trip to New York to meet the Tiffany & Co. design team and lookbook styling assistance from Harper's Bazaar.
Pageant presented a modern, sportswear-influenced collection with a colour palette of dusty pastel pinks paired with blocked monochrome prints. It's a highly covetable collection with its casual cool aesthetic, guaranteed to appeal to fans of simple yet intelligent design.
The award was judged by a panel of some of the fashion industry's most eminent profiles, including Glen Schlehuber, Tiffany & Co.’s Vice President & Managing Director; Kellie Hush, Editor-in-Chief of Harper's Bazaar; and Donna Player, David Jones Group Executive Merchandise. Winning the award puts Pageant in a good standing amongst past winners Romance Was Born, Christopher Esber, Josh Goot and Strateas Carlucci. Stay tuned for more from Pageant.
