How you’ll be wearing stripes this season

It’s stripe season!

Proving fashion doesn’t always have to be highly-strung, striped basics have stood the test of time. Sported by the elites of the fashion hierarchy throughout the ages, from Coco Chanel to Brigitte Bardot, and now Kate Middleton – stripes are the stylish basic you can buy now and wear forever.

Traditionally used in the uniform of French Navy seamen, a striped Breton shirt typically consisted of 20 navy blue stripes 10mm wide, positioned exactly 20mm apart. Fashion rebels have taken this formula and raised the bar. Now, navy and white stripes are worn at any pace and are just as chic on a boat-necked top as a jersey stretch midi dress.
