Fashionably Fit

Pictured above: JETS Active new season range

It’s coming on to the end of January and it’s crunch time…time to keep on doing crunches, squats and planks. Those of us who made fitness-related resolutions in the New Year (likely with champagne in hand) might be struggling to keep them by now, but keep at it! They say 30 days make a habit and you’ll soon be hitting your fitness goals in no time.

Add to your resolution and make sure to wear the right workout clothes for the type of activity you do. Inappropriate activewear may hinder your workout and the first step to feeling confident and motivated is looking the part. Read on for our tips and best picks for choosing the right gear for whether you're doing yoga, running or hitting the gym.

Yoga/Pilates

Yoga, pilates or the latest fitness craze, barre may be relatively low impact forms of exercise but you can’t just wear any old tights. Look for wide waistbands to ensure coverage while you’re stretching, and avoid loose shorts so that you’re not revealing more than your butterfly pose.

Running

You may think popping on any old cotton t-shirt over your sports bra is fine for a run, but 100% cotton tees absorb moisture which means you’re not cooling down while your body is heating up. Sport tops made of mesh or any moisture wick fabric are best for running and will look more streamlined than a baggy top.

Gym

Whether you’re doing a class or lifting weights, the right sports bra is needed not only to ensure you get the right support but also enough coverage. When you purchase a new sports bra (we recommend getting a new one at least every 6 months depending on how often you do sport), lift your arms and do a couple of stretches to ensure they don’t ride up or are too tight that it restricts movement.
