2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Melbourne Fashion Festival, sponsored again this year by Virgin Australia. Melbourne is known as Australia's fashion capitals so it's no surprise that every year, the event gets bigger and grander. And that's no easy feat as the festival has been host to a few "fashion moments" including several international supermodels walking down the runway and Australian designers Josh Goot and Dion Lee winning the fashion awards that has since made them household names.
David Jones has been also been an avid supporter of the festival, hosting the opening parade for the past few years. Here's a sneak peek of what to expect from our show this year:
International supermodel Erin Wasson is walking for the first time at VAMFF for the David Jones Opening Parade.
Erin will also be launching her fine jewellery line, Wasson Fine, during an instore event at the newly renovated luxury accessories department at David Jones Bourke St store. David Jones is the exclusive stockist of Wasson Fine.
Two of our ambassadors Jesinta Campbell and Montana Cox will also be walking at the parade.
Fresh from walking at the David Jones A/W 2016 Fashion Launch in February, Jesinta Campbell will also go down the runway —her first time for VAMFF — joining festival veteran Montana Cox.
Up and coming talent Ngaiire will be performing.
Hailed as one of Australia's most unique, eclectic and fearless artists, Papua New Guinea-born Ngaiire has been making waves in the music scene with her dynamic vocals and future folk/soul sound. She will be performing a special finale at the David Jones Opening Parade.
The show will feature the best of David Jones' young fashion brands.
From Romance was Born, C&M Camilla and Marc, and Alice McCall, Australian designer brands will feature on the catwalk. Also being showcased are edgy denim looks from General Pants, T by Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, RE:Denim, and Diesel.
