CAMILLA Resort 17: Jambo, Jambo!

When the CAMILLA tribe celebrates, there's no expense or theatrics spared. For the brand's preview presentation of their Resort 17 collection, the festivities began early Thursday morning on board the Seadeck, a European-style party boat, in where Camilla Franks presented 20 spectacular looks from her epononymous brand's women's, men's and kids' Resort 17 collection.

An African slang term meaning 'Hello, Hello!', the collection is called 'Jambo, Jambo!' and guests such as blogger Nadia Fairfax, actress Rachael Taylor, and TV presenter Sophie Falkiner received a warm African welcome from the CAMILLA angels and Valanga Khoza's African choir who serenaded everyone with the harmonious hymns of South Africa. Also on hand were cold-pressed green juices, Pommery mimosas and barista-made coffee in CAMILLA cups as well as a luscious breakfast table complete with fresh fruit and DIY bircher muesli.

The preview show began as the yacht pulled into Farm Cove, in full view of the Sydney Opera House at Bennelong Point and the Harbour Bridge. Against such a scenic backdrop, the preview showcased a collection inspired by Camilla's travels to Africa — rich in colour and spirit, embodying the bohemian realms of Morocco, the energy of the savannahs, and the rich hues of Kenyan tribes. Featuring draped dresses, swimwear and of course, kaftans, the show also included kids and menswear, which came in the form of mini kaftans and brightly printed swim shorts, respectively. New to the brand was the made-to-order CAMILLA surfboards, which were printed in the collection's bright hues and vibrant patterns. Styled by fashion week's most wanted creative Mark Vassallo, the show was elaborate and full of energy, nothing short of what you would expect from CAMILLA.

Says Camilla, “Africa truly awakened me. The vibrancy of colour, the beauty of the land, and the spirit of the people. I found inner peace in the arms of the tribeswomen, and was transfixed by the bohemian melting pot of Morocco. This collection is an expression of the love and light I felt during my time in this stunning part of the world and I can’t wait to show it to Sydney and the world.”
