The dark nights of autumn winter 2017 are calling for head-to-toe lively, fire-engine reds, worn with playful, pink-based crimson lips and nails. It seems last year’s love affair with burgundy is well and truly over, with designers finding inspiration in more powerful, passionate shades. Admiring recent collections by Erdem, Proenza Schouler, Ellery, and Valentino, it’s plain to see – the brighter the red the better, with runways dominated by multi-textured, vibrant crimsons, achieving a blissfully animated aesthetic.
On location in Paris for JONES Autumn Issue 3, Fashion Director Thelma McQuillan and photographer Paul Empson perfectly captured the romance of the trend. Shot against a breathtaking backdrop reminiscent of the French Renaissance, the editorial shows off the best of new season international collections, characterised by all things chic and red.
