Shooting wool coats, knits and boots on a humid autumn day is all part of a day’s work for stylist & photographer Romy Frydman of StyleMeRomy.com. An in-demand fashion consultant and creative director in Australia and overseas, working with brands like Country Road and Tory Burch, her unique eye for style and composition means that there's not much Romy can't make look good, even in unseasonably warm weather.
And for our Winter of Style campaign, Romy had it all under control, styling and shooting models Declan John Geraghty and Taja Feistner in a tightly edited collection of the most coveted pieces this winter. “[Declan and Taja] were great to work with. It’s always fun popping two people together in a shot and making them a faux couple, but they were true professionals and made it look all too real,” said Romy, referring to the campaign’s hero shot.
During a break at the shoot, we ask Romy to share her style tips for the cooler months:
Experiment with layering
“I’m trying to mix it up and experiment this season with layering - putting shirts under strapless dresses, and turtlenecks under everything.”
Think about proportion
“Playing with proportion is always good in winter, and this year I am thinking oversized knits tucked into everything from denim to mini skirts.”
Choose a few staples for winter
“Luckily Sydney weather doesn’t get that cold so a great leather jacket, some good denim (thinking a cropped flare) with my ankle boots and perfect felt hat.”
