When I'm picking a race day outfit...
I look for something that expresses my personality and style. I also always stick to the race day rules: hemline needs to be below the knees or knee length, and either thick straps or cap sleeves. For headpieces, I have a rule where it can only have one or two trims. But I do recommend being bold and going big with your headwear rather than minimal, the races are meant to be fun!
My biggest thing with shoes is that they need to have two straps across the feet, rather than slip on pumps. I also prefer a slightly thicker heel for comfort.
I look to runway trends for inspiration...
Carla Zampatti's take on the '70s trend is perfect for the races, especially the Twiggy dresses and the hats. I also love the dark florals trend as it's very easy to replicate for the autumn season.
When I'm at the races, I always check out...
Kate Waterhouse. She has a modern approach to racewear and she pulls it off very well. I also love Megan Gale because she really embraces her curves and she isn't afraid to make a statement with her headwear.
My style tips for men for the races are...
Don't be afraid to accessorise either with a pocket square or colourful socks - but don't overdo it. Steer clear of wearing a black office-y suit - I love a grey or navy slim cut suit on men. And if you're confident and think you can pull it off, go for a 3-piece suit. Finally, always bring sunnies - Tom Ford makes the best men's sunglasses.
My favourite...
Miliner: I have two, Jane Lambert and the Hatmaker.
Designers for the races: Rebecca Valance, Thurley, Camilla and Marc, Ginger & Smart, Willow.

Drink at the races: Definitely champagne. Bollinger or Dom Perignon.
