How To Dress Like a DJ

David Jones continue to recognise young, emerging artists and in the lead-up to the biggest celebration of Australian music, the ARIA Awards, we profile three musicians who are part of the next wave of Australian talent.

We collaborate again with ARIA Week DJ Luen Jacobs and yes, we think we have a girl-crush.

Last time we saw Luen, she was rocking a hairstyle that was part-quiff, part-cornrows. This time around, she's styled in big, 80s-style crimped hair and again, rocking it like nobody's business. Her style is as exuberant as her Soundcloud playlists and she nails the casual-cool sporty look we want for summer.

Love her look too? Here's the 411 on DJ Luen Jacobs' style:

1. Don't be too flashy.

"I find because I work in a male-dominated industry I don’t like to be too flashy, but I’m trying to change that. I’m trying to up my flashy and represent FKA Twigs a little bit more," she tells us in a previous interview.

2. Definitely do denim.

From a wrap-style denim skirt by The Fifth Label to a raw-dged V-neck top by N/Nicholas, Luen ups the cool factor of denim with pieces that have a distinctive design twist.

3. Wear everything with sneakers.

We love a girl who completes their look with sneakers.

4. Make your style your own.

In Luen's words, style should be "a visual reflection of your personality...and ever changing according to your mood." And we can't help but agree.

Catch Luen during ARIA Week as part of Triple J's  Unearthed ARIA Week Showcase, held at the Newtown Social Club on Wednesday, 25 November.
