is taking shapewear to the next level for Spring/Summer 14 with the launch of their latest collection, SLIMS
. Touted as the next revolution in shapewear due to an innovative fabric technology known as flock bonding. With Spring Racing season in full swing, there couldn't be a better time to get your hands on a pair of SLIMS - every woman's secret to a more streamlined figure. We had a chat to the SLIMS designer, Janine Anggara, about the new range and how they work.
1. Nancy Ganz SLIMS is considered to be a revolution in shapewear. What makes the SLIMS range different from traditional shapewear?
Traditional shapewear is often thicker and heavier in fabrication, which can make it feel like it’s only an occasion piece. Our new Nancy Ganz SLIMS range has been designed with a 50% thinner fabric, which is light enough to be worn everyday yet still firm enough to provide the targeted support women seek from shapewear.
2. What inspired you to create the Nancy Ganz SLIMS range?
Every season I travel the world for inspiration. For Nancy Ganz, it’s mostly about looking for new innovations in fabric and techniques. To create Nancy Ganz SLIMS, I was inspired by a new flock banding treatment that only a handful of suppliers in the world can actually produce, and I knew I needed to bring it back to Australia.
3. We love the look of the flock banding – it looks like tiger stripes! Can you tell us more about how they work?
The ‘tiger stripes’ are actually a new innovation in flocking where individual fibre filaments make up flocked bands. They are strategically placed in zones to restrict the stretch in the fabric where you need to be held firm, and then allow free flow and movement in the fabric where you don’t need support. This technique is used instead of power mesh lining or bonded panels like in regular shapewear.
4. Coming into Spring/Summer, which Nancy Ganz SLIMS piece will be the most versatile?
The Slims Shaper shorts are fantastic as they can be worn under skirts, pants and knee-length dresses. The flocked finish around the waist doesn’t dig in, the flocked bands at the front tame the tummy and the shaping leg is great for shaping the thighs – making them ideal under fitted jeans or pencil skirts.
5. What are your top tips for caring for the delicate Nancy Ganz SLIMS shapewear?
Nancy Ganz SLIMS are especially delicate and should be treated with care – like you would lingerie. Roll the SLIMS like a pair of hosiery and step in – then unroll and manoeuvrer the shapewear into position. Follow the washing instructions and your SLIMS will continually support you.
