For some, winter fashion is something to look forward to - layered looks, tailored winter coats, and cosy knits that hide tell tale signs of all the delicious comfort food we’ve been indulging in. Winter skin? Not so much.
We all experience it when the temperature drops - tight, dry skin that looks dull and dehydrated. But luckily, there’s a fix for each one of these ailments. Read on to solve all your winter skin problems.
The problem: My skin feels dry and tight.
When it’s cold out, we tend to take extra long hot showers but exposing skin to hot water temperatures is the very cause of it becoming dry and tight during winter.
Solution: Apply a rich and creamy moisturiser that not only hydrates but restores your skin’s moisture levels.
The problem: I have rough, flaky skin.
Rough, flaky skin is caused by our skin slowing down its production of oils due to the drop in temperature and less humidity in the air.
Solution: While it may not be intuitive to exfoliate rough winter skin, you’ll need to get rid of the build-up of dead skin cells before re-hydrating. After taking a warm shower, let the steam open up the pores on your face and skin, then exfoliate gently before applying a hydrating serum or face oil.
The problem: My skin looks dull and lifeless.
If your face is looking as grey as the cold winter sky, it’s because your skin is dehydrated, a common winter skin ailment.
Solution: Use a face mask to rejuvenate your skin, and apply a skin brightening cream to bring back your natural glow.
