I’ll begin this story by saying that I NEVER get my makeup done and usually dislike anyone else other than myself touching my face. It’s just a weird thing I have. I know how I like my makeup done, and can manage perfectly well on my own. But, in the name of research, I decided to put my reservations aside and pop down in my lunch break to get glammed up.
Sandy and Sepideh from Napoleon Perdis were waiting for me when I arrived downstairs. After chatting to them for a few minutes about my skin type, the products I usually use and the type of makeup I like, I felt WAY more comfortable with the fact that strange people were about to touch my face because it seemed like they were genuinely trying to understand what I wanted, as opposed to chucking a bucket of green eyeshadow on me and calling it a day (it’s happened before).
We settled on a “natural glamorous” makeup look that would be able to take me from the office to after work drinks or a dinner date. Nothing too crazy or OTT, just subtle, matte colours that enhanced my features and didn’t make me look like I was competing in a baby beauty pageant.
Below is the face chart that Sandy prepared while Sepideh worked her magic on my face. This is part of the Napoleon Perdis Instant Glam Makeover and is super helpful afterwards if you want to try and re-create a certain aspect of your look, as it outlines all of the products that were used.
One thing I loved? Sepideh took the time to explain every single product before she applied it, giving me the option between products and colours to make sure I was happy with the direction the makeover was heading in.
Scroll down for the before and after photos (the before photo with absolutely zero makeup, please shield your eyes) and considering what a cynic I was about getting my makeup done in the first place, I happily went out to dinner that night looking oh-so airbrushed and polished.
The verdict? I’d definitely recommend getting an Instant Glam Makeover – my experience was nothing short of amazing. The girls were so lovely and I didn’t feel like it was rushed, like some experiences I’ve had in the past. As long as you communicate clearly as to what kind of makeup look you want, and are not afraid to speak up and tell them exactly what it is you like and dislike, your experience will be just as amazing as mine.
