The future of cleansing is oils. Surprised? So were we.
Turns out the answer to your cleansing prayers is oil. This little-known lifesaver is seriously underrated, and we’re here to spread the word.
We know what you’re thinking – but what if I already have oily skin? Surely you’re not suggesting I fight fire with fire? Using oil will just make me break out. Right?
While it may seem counter-intuitive, cleansing oils remove excess sebum, but simultaneously replenish the naturally occurring oils in your skin once these ‘bad’ oils are banished. They leave your skin clean, but without that taut, dehydrated feeling. Better yet, they’re the multi-tasker of face washes – a cleanser and make-up remover in one, eliminating all the toxic remnants of your day including dirt, make-up and pollution.
As most face oils are made from a combo of natural ingredients, they’re also suitable for all skin types. Known in beauty circles as the natural alternative to traditional chemical-based cleansers – which can have an unpredictable impact on your skin – it’s really no wonder this mystifying product has been trending lately.
So how do I use a cleansing oil?
Make sure your hands are dry, then pump or pour a few drops of your chosen oil into your palms.
Gently smooth the oil onto your face.
Wet your face to emulsify the cleansing oil, gently massaging the oil into your skin for 20 seconds or so, to ensure that all make-up and impurities are properly removed.
Remove any residue with warm water, or a damp cloth.
Regardless of your chosen cleansing oil, your skin will be left looking plump, hydrated and clean.
