How To Do "No Make-up" Make-up, With Beauty It-Girl Jenny Do

"Natural" is the word du jour in beauty land right now – so it's no wonder the "no make-up" look is, once again, very on point. We asked make-up extraordinaire Jenny Do to take us through how she gets the natural look and she kindly provided an easy-to-follow 10-step guide. Shop the look here, follow her instructions and then let your true self shine through.

"My inspiration for this pared back AW18 make-up look came straight off the runways at Philosophy and Brandon Maxwell. It’s a “no make-up” make-up look – simple yet polished, using monochromatic tones on the eyes, lips and cheeks and keeping the skin soft and glossy."

– Jenny Do, make-up expert

STEP BY STEP

Dior Capture Youth Age-Delay Advanced Crème

1. Hydration is key to skin prep – eliminating dryness means your foundation glides on like magic. Here I’ve massaged Dior Capture Youth Age-Delay Advanced Crème onto my skin in slow, circular motions.

2. To prime the skin I’ve used the Tom Ford Illuminating Primer, which tones and brightens to create a perfectly clean canvas.

3. Foundation time! I’ve used the Giorgio Armani Power Fabric and combined it with one or two drops of the Aesop Fabulous Face Oil to sheer out the foundation and give it an even more hydrated finish.

4. Here I’ve added some shape and natural lift to my face using the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor.

5. To keep the look monochromatic, I’ve used the Guerlain Terracotta Sun Trio Bronzing Contouring Palette. Take a fluffy brush and gently blend the product all over the eyelids for a wash of colour, then run a little bit along the lower lash line to define the eyes.

6. To highlight the face and reduce darkness, I’ve used the YSL All Hours Concealer. With a soft, fluffy brush – similar to an eyeshadow brush – lightly buff the under the eye, down the centre of the nose and onto the chin area.

7. To lock my base make-up in for the day, first I’ve set the concealer with Lancôme Poudre Miracle Loose Powder and then lightly dusted MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural over the top using a large brush.

8. Don’t be afraid to contour. Add colour to your cheeks with Guerlain Terracotta Sun Trio Bronzing Contouring Palette, using an angled brush to keep the contour nice and soft.

9. Using a smaller brush I’ve added TheBalm Betty-Lou Manizer Highlighter & Shimmer to the high points of the face, cheek bones, then down the bridge and to the tip of the nose.

10. The finishing touch… Here I’ve lined the edges of my lips with a MAC Lip Pencil and dabbed a MAC Lipstick over the top. Keep the colours neutral to your skin tone – the pencil in “Boldly Bare” and the Lipstick in “Honeylove” work nicely with my natural colouring.

And voila – naturally beautiful.
