So it’s festive season again and with only a few weeks before Christmas, that’s plenty of time to shake off the year, let your hair down and indulge in the merriment. December is packed full of notable jollification and between office end of year celebrations and catch up’s with friends and family, it’s the time of year to enjoy getting glamorous.
To achieve a summery but still sophisticated look, we enlisted the expert advice of Director for L’Oreal Paris and freelance make-up Artist, Elsa Morgan to share a few of those tricks of the trade.
"The key to getting your party look right is to work your makeup back with your outfit. As a makeup artist the first question I ask a celebrity before making her up for the red carpet is to see what she will be wearing. If its monochromatic or quite graphic the makeup should mimic this, think bold black winged eyeliner or a bright matte lipstick, structured filled in brows and velvet matte finish skin.”

And for the more subtle ensembles it’s about the shimmer and shine factor.
“Soft super feminine dresses or pretty prints work best with a shimmery wash of colour along the eyelids, full flirty lashes, glossy stained lips and luminous youthful skin. Metallic shades for eyes in jewel tones look instantly party ready. I love working 2 shades together, for instance a navy blue metallic shade along the lower lashline and a rich metallic plum across the top lid. Follow with black mascara, a subtle shade of gloss for the lips and a touch of bronzer for the perfect party look.”
