OPI was proud to be the official partner of the David Jones S/S 2014 Fashion Launch, which featured their new Nordic Collection on the runways for the new season.
Melisa Giraldo, celebrity manicurist and new Australian OPI Colour Ambassador provided some tips and tricks the achieve the perfect summer nails from backstage at the David Jones S/S 2014 Fashion Launch.
For the perfect at home manicure, always give your nails two additional wipe-overs with cotton rounds using a gentle nail polish remover and prior to painting, try washing your hands and nails with a hand wash and a good towel dry. Manicures always last longer with a completely dry and oil-free nail. Apply a base coat or nail strengthener depending on your nail concerns, then I find 3 coats of lacquer always last better than just the two. Ensure you seal the free edges of your nails with your top coat, then finish with a spritz of Rapidry nail polish dryer – once you’ve tried you’ll never go back! I always recommend using hand creams and a cuticle oil after your nails are painted and dry for fresh and glowing summer hands.
The OPI Nordic Collection is in perfect synergy with the current trends we are seeing on the runway. We are seeing lots of warm metallic with cinnamon and toffee hues to unexpected pastels of blue-violet, creamy coral and sea greens . We are also seeing lots of intricate detail and stripes. My favourite colour in the collection is "My Dogsled is a Hybrid". I also love "OPI With a Nice Finn-ish" teamed with "Can't Afjord Not To" – which we have just seen on the David Jones S/S Fashion Launch runway which give a warm opulence to summer nails taking you from day to night. These two colours can also look great when accenting your ring finger in the alternate colour or adding a stripe in the alternating colour.
