Your 'Green' Beauty Regime

You've likely heard of sustainable and ethical labels in fashion, but have you ever considered 'going green' with your beauty regime?

Cute rhymes aside, there's no reason why your 'green' practices should stop with fashion — a slew of brands have come into the beauty market, recognising that many of us care about the products we're applying to our skin, who makes them, and how they affect the environment.

But a word of caution: not all 'green' brands are the same. There are organic brands, like Kora Organics by Miranda Kerr, who use only quality certified organic ingredients; ethically-conscious brands like Dr. Bronner's, who source only from certified Fair Trade providers; and natural skincare brands, like Jurlique, who pride themselves on using ingredients that are pesticide and chemical-free. There's often cross-over between these brands so check the certification labels, like those from Natrue, Ecocert and Australian Organic, on each product just to be sure.

Happily, this means that there's plenty of 'green' products to choose from. Shop our edit below to cover your beauty needs from head to toe. Whoever said "It ain't easy being green?"

Look for products that use natural oils sourced from fruits and plants such as coconut, wheat germ and avocado. Many are also infused with naturally-derived fragrances like lavender, leaving your hair smelling as fresh and healthy as it looks.

From cleansers to hydrators, to exfoliants and makeup removers, there are many 'green' products now available to stock your beauty cupboard. Most have antioxidant benefits from ingredients like white tea to protect your skin from pollutants in the environment, and anti-aging qualities from aloe vera.

Nourish and moisturise your skin the natural way with products that use glycerine and essential oils, instead of chemically-produced parabens and synthetic fragrances. Rosehip oil, in particular is known to be a rich source of essential fatty acids that your skin needs to quench dry skin and protect it from premature aging.

Hands & Feet

Heal rough hands and cracked soles with organic products made with tea tree and avocado oils. Natural scents from honey and hibiscus flowers will leave your skin fragrant and without any oily residue.
