CHIP & PIN
You will receive a chip card shortly before your current Card expires, until then you can continue to use your existing David Jones American Express Card or David Jones American Express Platinum Card as normal.
When you receive your new chip Card you will be required to select a 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). This is quite easy and can be done in a few simple steps.Your PIN will replace your signature as the verification method for domestic point of sale purchases, beginning on 1 August 2014. Please be aware that when travelling overseas you may still be required to sign for some purchases.
If you do not have a chip embedded into your David Jones American Express Card, or you hold a David Jones Storecard, you will NOT be impacted by the 1 August change, and can continue to sign for your in-store purchases.
At this time, all David Jones American Express Card Members are asked to sign to authorise purchases made in-store at David Jones. A communication will be sent to you when PIN authorisation becomes available at David Jones stores.
How does this benefit me?
- Chip technology makes it difficult to duplicate or access data stored on your card. As a result, chip cards provide enhanced protection against fraud from lost, stolen or counterfeit cards
- From 1 August 2014 all domestic point of sale transactions will require a PIN to authorise and verify your purchase.
