David Jones Community Policy


David Jones is committed to making a valuable contribution to Australian society by providing financial support to projects that focus on the health and well-being of Australian women and children. To meet this commitment and reflect feedback from our customers and employees, David Jones is pleased to focus this support on the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia.


National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF)
David Jones has been associated with the NBCF since its inception in 1994 and in 2004 became a Diamond Partner. David Jones hosts a number of fundraising initiatives in order to continue to support research programs. In 2010, David Jones was awarded The Pink Circle Award, which is awarded to Corporate partners who have generated over $1 million for breast cancer research.

Shop Pink Donation Day
Annually David Jones holds the Shop Pink Donation Day where all profits made from all stores across Australia are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

David Jones Rose Clinics
As an extension of our partnership with NBCF David Jones has developed a breast screening program through the establishment of Rose Clinics. David Jones Rose Clinics provide a unique instore free health screening service for women over 40 to assist with the early detection of breast cancer. David Jones currently has Rose Clinics operating in our Elizabeth Street, Bourke Street Mall and QueensPlaza stores all boasting state of the art digital mammography technology. The Rose Clinics are easily accessible and provide a welcoming and comfortable environment for our customers. David Jones breast screening expansion strategy will see Rose Clinics opening in the coming years in our Hay Street Mall (Perth) and Adelaide Central Plaza (Adelaide) stores to provide a national service for our customers.

Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia (CCIA)
David Jones has an ongoing commitment to support research into neuroblastoma and as such supports research programs of the Children's Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research. CCIA is the only independent medical research institute in Australia dedicated to research into the causes, prevention, better treatments and ultimately a cure for childhood cancer. David Jones has been a proud partner of the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia since 1995 and is the exclusive department store retailer of Gold Ribbon merchandise during February, Gold Ribbon Month, to raise money for cancer research and treatments on behalf of the CCIA.

Participating in Earth Hour since its launch in 2007

Engaging our stakeholders to reduce the environmental impact of packaging and waste, and travel and transport

HELPING OUR CUSTOMERS TO IMPROVE RECYCLING RATES


One of David Jones’ commitments to the Packaging Covenant is to help our customers reduce the amount of packaging sent to landfill. Click here for some useful information to help identify different types of waste that can be recycled, and how to recycle those materials.
