Submitting Your Application

Consider your application a chance to put your best foot forward.

If this is your first job search, your resume should include your contact information, academic history, work experience, notable achievements, specialised skills, and any other information about yourself you consider important.

   

Recruitment Process

   

The David Jones Human Resources team has designed a recruitment process that allows us to find the best candidates from across Australia. The process can take from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the position you are applying for and the number of applications we receive. The first step is submitting your application.


Interviews

The interview process gives us a chance to better understand our shortlisted candidates. Through consultation with Human Resources, we will conduct a series of interviews and meetings to best determine your fit to the role and to David Jones. This is also a chance for you to meet us, so be prepared and come with any questions you might have.

We are looking for as many unique personalities as we have roles, so be yourself!

     
   


How to Apply

  1. Click on "Current Vacancies" on the left hand toolbar
  2. Search for a suitable position. You can search by Store location, Function, State, Department, Status, Keyword or Job reference number.
  3. Find a position of interest and select "begin" to commence your application process. The application process requires you to register your profile, complete an application form and upload your resume. To register you will need to have a valid email address. You will receive your unique ID and password, which you will use to login to your candidate profile.
  4. Once you have completed the application form, you will have the opportunity to review it prior to submitting. Once you have checked your application select "submit".
  5. If you do not find a position of interest on your first search, register your details and set up a job alert so we can advise you when an opportunity arises.

     
   


What happens next?

  1. You will receive an on screen acknowledgement confirming that your application has been received.
  2. You will also receive an email from David Jones advising you that we have received your application. This will be sent to your email address and stored in your unique candidate login page.
  3. If your application is suitable we will contact you to discuss your application further and the next steps.
  4. Your application is kept in our database, so we will be able to consider your details for future or additional positions.
  5. If you wish to withdraw your application at any time you are able to do so via your candidate login page.

How can I find out about current vacancies within David Jones?

All of our current vacancies are advertised on our Careers Website. To view our current vacancies click on "Current Vacancies" on the left hand toolbar.

How do I apply for a position with David Jones?

Once you have found a position that is of interest to you select "begin" to commence your application process. The application process requires you to register your profile, complete an application form and upload your resume.

To register you will need to have a valid email address.

Once you have registered you will receive your unique ID and password, which you will use to login to your candidate profile.

Can I hand in my resume to a Store nearby?

We request that all applications are submitted on-line. This ensures that your application is processed and reviewed in the most efficient manner.

How do I know that my application has been received by David Jones?

You will receive an on screen acknowledgement confirming that your application has been received. You will also receive an email from David Jones advising you that we have received your application.

All correspondence sent to your email address is also stored in "My History" on your candidate page.

If you have a yahoo or hotmail account please remember to check your "junk" folders.

Can I be advised when suitable positions become available?

Yes, you can set up a job alert so we can advise you when a suitable opportunity arises, that matches your criteria. To do this, register your details and login to your candidate page and select "Job Alert" in the left hand toolbar.

Can I apply to work at David Jones if there isn’t a suitable position available?

If you can't find a suitable position it is best to set up a Job Alert (see above) so we can advise you when a position does become available that meets your requirements.

Do I have to complete the application form when I have a resume?

Our application form has been designed to collect key information that we need to assess your suitability to the position. There are mandatory questions that you need to answer in order to submit your application. To give yourself the best opportunity to be successful we suggest you complete all fields with the required details.

How can I withdraw my application?

You are able to withdraw your application at any time by logging into your candidate profile and selecting "Withdraw application" or "Withdraw all applications".

If I have forgotten my password or ID number, how do I get a new one?

If you have forgotten your unique details, please select ‘Candidate login’ and click ‘here’ under 'Forgotten your Login Details’. You will be asked for your email address and your login details will be sent to you.
